A shower at 3AM,
steam curling like ghosts of things unsaid.
It held me better
than hands that swore they'd never let go.
No promises, no pressure,
just warmth that didn't ask for mine in return.
The water ran,
and with it, the ache.
Love said, "I'll fix you."
The shower said nothing
and still did more

Love with expectation is not love. A great poem speaking of loves expectations.
thank you so much for reading and kind words ๐๐๐
The old urging of a cuppa tea also does something. Yes, the exquisite pain of unyielding reality is more than we can bear, but there are a couple things which can help make it seem... what? Gorgeously rendered as you so excellently do, with superb imagery and a haunting poignancy. Somehow when you write I'm there, in the moment. Thank you so much for sharing.
It means a lot that you enjoy my ramblings, thank you for the kind words! ๐๐๐
Not everything turns out as expected, especially love, nicely written
Yes, when it comes to love, Iโve realized itโs mostly a bunch of expectations we build up in our heads, not as pure as one naively thinks when they first fall into it, thank you for enjoying ๐๐๐
You are very welcome
Whatever you get from people is not totally free. There are always some expectations, at least some hope that you will scratch their back later. The shower asks nothing in return. It will keep working as long as water comes...
You're absolutely right. I used to think love was pure, something you should protect at all costs. But in reality, you're only worth something as long as you can do something for them ๐ซ
Human nature is such that people will not keep giving you things or doing things for you for a lifetime. Even within a family we see this, although there are blood links.
With time relationships change. At one point we expect to get something in return.
โCourtesy on one side only lasts so long.โ

You keep helping someone but one day you will decide that it is not worth it, because you are not getting consideration in return. Or, they deliberately ignore you or even turn on you.
