An Artist's Endeavor

John

If only these words could,

mend a broken heart—

hidden between the lines and empty spaces,

a sentiment yet unspoken.

A poem, the lyrics of a ballet written,

verses–so carefully crafted—

they could lift the weight of loss.

I would take this artist’s,

brush in hand,

If only it could trace your likeness—

to render upon a cloth, the woven

threads of this canvas—You, as you were.

I would paint my heart

in the purest gold,

a pendant resting closest to your heart—

to be near you evermore.

In a realm of dreams, ancient,

yet timeless. A bard would perform

to a room hushed in silence.

His voice threading through candlelight,

ever so gently—rising, then falling—

a song to create such magic,

as to bring us into being.

Our essence, drawn together

in simple beauty—

        a lover’s poem.

The unseen nature of a budding flower,

        perfectly captured within this portrait.

To be woven into time itself, through tales

        of loss and tragedy—

“Tragedy” it's in this word, we sense,

the reality that lays behind the veil of fiction–

We see the joys and sorrows that lie,

at the heart of creativity.

Here lies the true purpose of,

        an artist’s endeavor.

It was never to mend a broken heart,

but only an attempt to express–

        the nuances—the beauty hidden beneath,

the layers of such tragedies.

That even in a broken heart, what can be seen,

is a reflection of our capacity,

        our strength.

So beautiful, even in sorrow—this

picture revealed; It exists in

        the depths of our compassion,

As it lies within the mending heart,

It's in our dreams, our hopes,

Our most human of qualities.

It lies within our unconquerable ability to love.

I love to honor the craft of writing as much as those who are passionate about the craft. Thank you😊

I've not read as much of your favorites as I should have to compare your delicious piece to your masters, but this pretty number is exquisite with a delicately haunting poignancy which clings to the reader after concluding the imagery as exquisite as the piece. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you, your comment is deeply appreciated. Although I\'m new to this platform I\'ve been writing for several years. While I cannot say if my work comes close to those masters I admire so much, I find encouragement through kind remarks such as yours.
