human

lunarchloedip

You are delightfully human

gentle and perhaps a little fragile

quick-witted and agile

full of humour and empathy

the ability to see the best in me

unafraid to address flaws

I simply cannot get enough

We are both afraid of fire

but there is a flame in you

that does not flicker

as much as it flourishes

fuels your individuality

you are wonderfully individual

and I cannot fathom how you do it

how you are so pure

how you are so impossible to ignore

how I want to spend the rest of my life

being yours

And I love

that you do not chase perfection

that you choose not to shy away

from genuine connection

when I felt overwhelmed

buried my head in the pillows

you pressed your own face against mine

told me not to hide

asked me why I felt the way I did

told me I didn’t need to cry

There is a reason

your nickname is nova

aside from it rhyming with clover

a nova is a star

that burns with light

breathtaking and bright

until eventually fading out

and returning to the sky

I feel your love

reach the explosion

my own frantic pulse

fingertips clasping the pen

well-chosen handwoven words of emotion

written in devotion

this is the light

It does fade

not entirely

but into stability

comfort

a love that fixed my fear of the dark

and I am content

to lay here with you

in this darkness

and just exist

softly

to practise letting go

of all expectations

and returning to the state

of humanity

to be so human

it bleeds out of me

to be so authentic

it is almost poetic

this love is not always electric

It can be a sweet

feathery kind of soft

I do not need more

to be human with you

is all I have ever longed for.
