Us and the Void

Tristan Robert Lange

There is no sky,
It cannot

There’s gasses
Swirling above,

There’s fire beneath,
Rock below.

Ultimately, though,

There’s us;
There’s the void.

Night is the truth.
The daylight lies.

Sunset is the end.
Delusion destruction.
The moon: a mirror.

Our lunar souls
Peer into the void,
Staring into the cosmos,
Delving deeper outward
Into our own
In n  e   r     S      p        a        c         e.

Are we equipped to travel?
Are we prepared
To explore the dark unknown,
To go where no one has gone before,
A place only we,

alone,

can explore?

The void calls with a grin
As black as gold.

A cancer that consumes the content.

Wake up!
The only way to the truth
Is through the void.

Light culls us,
It lulls us,
It dulls us,

In the void.

A haunting, thought-provoking poem that explores truth, illusion, and the vastness of both outer and inner space. I especially love the line break in 'There is no sky, it cannot fall'β€”it feels like the very concept of sky is collapsing letter by letter. Well done!

    • Tristan Robert Lange

Thank you so much, dearest Salvia. Glad the line breaks were effective. I am glad the poem delivered on all those accounts. πŸŒŒπŸ§ πŸŒ‘βœ¨πŸ™

A wonderful and deeply philosophical poem that asks us to look deep into ourselves. That void like a black hole that even light can not escape. I loved the lettering format that demonstrates the words being said. It is the meaning that captured me and gets a fave

And thank you for that fave, Soren. Much appreciated. Glad that the poem and it's philosophical weight, mirrored by the lettering, delivered. It makes my day, as I was having this reflection last night while watching the sun set and looking up higher to see the moon. It's amazing how much we can gather just by simple observation. Anyway, thank you my dear friend. πŸŒŒπŸ§ πŸŒ‘βœ¨πŸ™

I thought it most interesting that as far back as the Egyptians Isis the moon goddess that represented life through motherhood, power was known to be the reflection of Ra the sun god representing power and life.

          • Tristan Robert Lange

Indeed, at least as far back as the Egyptians. I find that fascinating too. Love studying ancient history and their religions and cultures. Thank you so much for sharing, my friend!

When I was a child I was convinced the sky would fall down.

To me a strong sense of asking us to look deep inside us to the darkness we all hold and have , where even some of us live. Some wonderful lines and a engrossing read

                • Tristan Robert Lange

Indeed. That is what it is doing. Thank you, my friend. Truly glad it delivered and that you were engrossed in it. Much appreciated. Have an awesome day! πŸŒŒπŸ§ πŸŒ‘βœ¨πŸ™

Great paint of a mind in freefall. Steady though - too much of that....But I believe there's enough energy there to allow you to maintain a steady orbit.
                    Cheers, Tristan.

Always a worthwhile challenge to respond to your pieces, Tristan.

Hmm. Light dulls us? Methinks to disagree with that line because God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. There's a definite well-nigh irresistible enchantment to the mysterious essence of "the" void, and darkness can stifle or else likewise entice. Fascinating. Superbly rendered with nigh exquisite imagery and a very haunting poignancy. Thank you for sharing.

                        • Tristan Robert Lange

Thank you so much, Missy! Ah. Yes, I don't disagree with you on the who the true light is. But I would ask this, how does one see the light, notice it, be transformed by it, when all one sees is light? It is the darkness that gives the light its sharpness, whereas, being fully immersed in light dulls our ability to appreciate it at best and, perhaps, even heightens our ability to ignore and take it for granted. In fact, I would go so far as to say that it can be a mask that helps us ignore a void exists at all. Like looking up at the "sky" and not recognizing beyond the illusion is darkness...space...uncertainty. All of those things lead me to embrace the true light, which shines through the darkness. So, I actually think we are on the same page, here. Light as illusion vs. the true light, which one WILL find if they know the true source of it. Thank you again, so much, my friend! Your time, thoughts and support are very much appreciated! πŸŒŒπŸ§ πŸŒ‘βœ¨πŸ™
