What promise can you give me
What word can you say
To make me believe you love me
Not just wanting to throw my heart away.
Will you lift me up
To rise and know love once more
Or
Will you let me crash upon the rocks of life
Bleeding
Dying
To live no more
I ask again
What promise
What word
What bond
Would make it worth to love you

Hmm. I don't know, you've got me... aside from my sincere love and affection, I don't know what words to use to drive home and certify my faithfulness. Having feared since highschool that my future husband would divorce me, and likewise feared other drawbacks I'll spare you now, I suppose that's why I've never yet married. Beautifully rendered with excellent imagery and a haunting, driving poignancy. Thank you for sharing. [P.S. I initially commented, then thought to hit the "edit" option to delete the inevitable slash marks, I was shocked to find my fatigue deleted my original comment.]
Thank you
Moving, this poem speaks to the need for another to give one wind to their sails. It asks the question of whether their desired partner will take their hand. A most lovely write Tony
