I’d rise before the early birds
and douse my verse with morning dew.
This poet’s dawn awash with words
if I could be a poem with you.
I’d flee the dark, come into sight,
embrace my day, my light, anew.
Then I would bear again the night
if I could be a poem with you.
With pen I’d verse my every dream
in hope, just one, becoming true.
I’d lay these dreams weighed ream on ream
if I could be a poem with you.
If true, a heart, won with a song,
would then the likes of me come through?
I’d sing the night, the whole day long
if I could be a poem with you.

Ah, many thanks Tony; a rousing poem that picked me up for a jaunt to the good old poetry pub! 🙏🏻🕊
You are very welcome, arqios. Poetry pub sounds much better than poetry club. Enjoy the jaunt, (years since I've heard that word). Thank you ever so much.
All the best,
Tony.
