Doggerel Dave

Notice of absence from Doggerel Dave
I do return sometimes... occasionally...

I’ve reached an age where I’m no longer curious -

News commentary recycles the same old shit.

Growth, the economy, the spurious;

And Social Justice? Why does that not fit?

Re your note: will they play Blind Mans Bluff, with the blindfold? lol.

    • Doggerel Dave

Ye by jove have got it. How much the perspicacity of a revered poet enhances the relevance of my work.

      • orchidee

Swoon! Don't say Orchi actually understood a poem with any degree of cryptic meaning in it?! LOL. That's Orchis a perspi-wotsit guy.

'Tis you in full flower and flow an something.

        • sorenbarrett

Do I detect a bit of cynicism regarding the media? What ever gave you that idea? Fun read Dave I tend to think there are more people that the media think feel that way.

I hate to confess this Soren, but I was seated in my kitchen at lunch midway between my sandwich and glass of cider when this idiot expert came burbling through my static driven old tranny atop my fridge, so I scribbled this out on the back of an old shopping list, and when I finished my very satisfying repast, toddled over to my PC and popped it in here. Glad you liked it. My oh my.....

Bedtime now - 'see the rest of you tomorrow.

A feeling I fully endorse, all of them dance to the tune of their pay masters, enjoyed the read

            • Doggerel Dave

More than their paymasters, many are committed to the maintenance of the status quo.
              Thanks for the read.

              • Poetic Licence

                You are very welcome

There isn't a concept of altruism and justice in this dissociative and self-centred motley gathering. Of course there are pockets of social groupings and justice dealings. But it is not the norm nor the majority. I feel this write. 🙏🏻🕊️

                • Doggerel Dave

Yes... and the big puzzle is why the disenfranchised are not out on the streets instead of muted moans when they get the chance would be a thing of wonderment if it were not so tragic. So perhaps the commentators I complained about up top are winning....aaah!

                  • arqios

Too tragic, mush for brain processing, lolling in the sweetness of endorphined slavery... or so we are led to believe. And yes, there are always the winners. ABBA cued to play... the loser has to fall....

                    • Doggerel Dave

Whatever the belief that keeps them in their place, it ain't that one. It might be mine and yours, but not the slaves, I hope....

Well, you’re curiosity is still intact, but what’s to be curious of when you already know the bullshit that will be spewed. So, I call this a graduation to selective curiosity and an ability to turn out what’s not worth being curious of. Idk. Or, not. 🤷‍♂️😂 But, I will say this Dave: right there with you on this! 🌹👏 Great job!!!

                      • Doggerel Dave

Ambivalence? I can understand that. But at my place in the life cycle all I can do is nag - and haven't I done that while at MPS? Earlier? not telling as I don\'t want trouble at this stage. Just caught me off balance as per my response to Soren up top.
Thanks for making the effort, however tiresome, Tristan.

Fair enough, Dave. Just know I, for one, love your nagging! Keep at it, mate! You are most welcome.

Of all the stuff in the world that should be recycled, old shit goes through the machines. News from the loo.
I don't blame you, Dave. I think we should stick to poetry.

                          Do take care now,

                          Tony.

                          • Doggerel Dave

Look I've got to cut back on this quickfire misery stuff - done enough of it in the past. However poetry (or for me, rhyming verse) in instances such as this is the medium, and not an end in itself. That's my schtick and in no way denigrates the stuff you knock out Tony which I admire greatly.

Made it! Top of the pops at Trending Now. Won't last long - some opportunistic poet, through no fault of their own, will gazump me, through no fault of their own, I say once more................

                            Thanks to one and all......................

                          • NafisaSB

so - no news is good news?
absolutely : when the same old yarns are spun - one gets fed up, and one could not blame you for the stance you feel like taking..

                            • Doggerel Dave

Plenty of news (mostly bad): it's the commentary relating to growth, the economy and all those irrelevances (to me) of which stocks and shares and indexes and so on and on set my teeth on edge and got me going here.

                              • NafisaSB

it's rare these days to read good news of any kind - can't even grin and bear what's being shared - so you definitely have a point there - but one can only hope that one day we will receive positive tidings too which will calm us, and make us happy
till then, let's take care it does not destroy our faith that there will be a better tomorrow [ am i being too hopeful and impractical ??]

                              • MendedFences27

Good one Dave. The news is horrendous these days. Commentators just do their jobs, it's who writes the script and who owns the media outlet. Mostly the very rich. As to social justice, well the millionaires love it the way it is. It's a dark shadow overlooking humanity as spelled out in your 4 lines. Try hard to enjoy the sunlight, - Phil A.

                                • Doggerel Dave

Many thanks Phil. And I do enjoy the sunlight (when it's not raining lol) and am glad to receive that theme in your messaging. But this particular wolloper just hit me halfway through lunch and in my imagination turned my remaining half glass of cider to vinegar for a moment. See response to Soren above for the rest of story.
