The Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes - A series of poetic puzzles
Clues - Rain Snow Rivers Lakes Oceans A home in the woods. They are all linked by water.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.
Perhaps you have heard of it? You might
A home in the woods
A week-end retreat for a wealthy man
Now a world heritage site
and that’s all well and good
but tell us who created it, if you can?
Extra clue - The owner’s son was a driving force in bringing about its creation.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.
Another house in the woods, but this time covered in snow.
A place where stories abound
about the family that lives there
and friends that they might know.
Somehow, the crackling fire draws the family around
With stories of long ago to share.
Who wrote this poem?
Extra clue - It’s not Mr. Emerson
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.
What he’s known for, the hydrofoil is not.
It’s a much more useful thing
Something of which we are all aware
Educating the deaf, is something for which he fought
Yet, he invented many things
to live without, we wouldn’t dare.
Extra clue - Just ask Siri or Alexa.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4.
Who could wear such a hat?
Who could wear such a coat?
Never mind that, who could wear both of them?
He can tell you who's the rat.
He can tell you who’s the goat.
But who was it, is “The Final Problem”?
Extra clue - Call for the doctor.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5.
A bust by the door to hold your hat
Grab a book from the shelf. Take a seat.
Read a poem from the dark-side’s underbelly.
Pay no attention to the bird on your hat
Don’t worry about the room’s lack of heat
Tell me now, what’s happened to my sweet “Annabel Lee”?
Extra clue - It’s what happens when your parents are actors.

Frankly, I perused this hours ago on I thought yesterday's lineup, and remain stumped. The idea and challenge are fun but may I have more clues, pretty please?
There was some confusion about the rules yesterday and I deleted and reposted today. There is a list of clues to begin, there are clues in the poetry, and an extra clue for each poem puzzle given. I suppose I could add more to the extras, but it will take time. Thank you for trying.
