Letting You Go
She packed the things into a box—
a little toy, a shiny rock.
She closed it up, her hands were slow,
and whispered soft, “I’ll let you go.”
She didn’t cry, just looked around,
at sky and trees and muddy ground.
She smiled a bit, then said goodbye—
like clouds that leave but don't all cry.

I am most sorry Cryptic for this interpretation but I could not help but picture a small child with their prize possessions (a small toy and rock) packing them in a box and saying goodbye to them. (bidding farewell to childhood). Then looking at all that remained of childhood (the sky, the tree, the muddy ground all symbolic of nature, its beauty and dirt) adult eyes are opened to things that are "more important" such as money, schedules, jobs, traffic, scams (none mentioned but to me implied with adulthood) and with a face of acceptance did not cry like clouds dispersed without a raindrop tear. A brilliant write my friend that leaves a feeling of nostalgia and sadness. A fave
Nothing to be sorry for as it fits perfectly. Thank you for sharing your reading, Soren ποΈππ»
My pleasure my friend

My friend, what a tender pieceβ¦ the small objects, the quiet goodbye, and that final cloud image all work together beautifully. The poem doesnβt shout its emotion, it just lets the moment sit there with quiet grace. That restraint makes it even more powerful. Well done, Rik.πΉπ€ππ―οΈπ¦ββ¬
Cheers! Almost contrasting with the plungeποΈππ»
Indeed! Cheers!
Good write A. I doubt I will get any meanings of cryptic poems with me wooden brain-box. It's like talking to a plank of wood. heehee.
Sometimes the meaning is secondary, thanks Oππ»ποΈ

Things into a Box could be anything from a Person's life . Memories or Relationships.
