They arrived today;
This box, that contains
The sounds of heaven,
Composed by a young man,
Taken from us before his time.
I open the box with such joy,
Knowing that the ones missing
From the collection, I have been amassing
For more than forty years,
Is now complete.
Now I can listen in wonder,
At the absolute genius, of a man
To whom music seemed so easy;
A man admired by all,
Even his composing peers.
Which shall I play first;
One I know intimately,
Or one not well known to me?
I have heard them all, but now they are mine,
To enjoy at my whim.
I shall savour every one of them
In my life, if I am granted time.
The complete creations
Of the genius who died so young;
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

- Comment from author about the poem: This is a poem I wrote many years ago which I thought I would revive. I now have three complete collections by various artists.
