   blinding and bold
   unapologetic
   a shock of white and gold
   for a short time
   until the light dies out
   and fades

   my bright star
   how marvellous you are
   lighting the sky
   almost to defy
   all those who thought you shy
   my darling
   burning
   you leave me yearning
   you light the sky
   and then fade
   to a calm
   holding my palms
   my head in your arms
   i know you do not always feel bright
   but my love, you shine
   all white and beautifully light
   and when you fade
   there remains an entire legacy
   left behind
