Already too late

Dan Williams

in this religion of waste and pollution

pews awkwardly angled to the pulpit

where insincere ministers hawk unsupportable beliefs

congregations feel confident a greater power will intervene

preferring to gather in that other faux shelter

where the avalanche has not fallen

yet stays poised to do so

while fools multiply sell deceit exponentially

instead of visions of the abyss in color, explaining the urgency

of sibling rivalry between extermination and annelation

there is no honesty in ignoring or refusing to acknowledge

how a rightful end is more than looming

the blame is widely spread fittingly and deservedly

still the multitudes deny or ascribe it always to others

humanity remains willfully numb to the carnage

and will deserve whatever happens
