Strange white car, only just fitting her form, slightly comical and of unknown make
Pulled up silently, suddenly with an odd swirl on the side, short and tall and the back slightly raked
She leaned forward, bolt upright, looking into my eyes, waving and smiling and seemed so pleased
Then, like not wanting to be caught, she fumbled with something and lurched off at speed
Gone as fast as she had arrived. Leaving me stunned, alone on the drive.
Stunned because I knew very few in the neighbourhood, as I stood outside our old house of 15 years ago
And never had, apart from the elderly immediate neighbours whom I’d gradually got to like and know
It’s the bizarreness of it all that my very rational mind still can’t explain, and still floors me
Stunned because it was clearly the face of my neighbour who’d been taken by cancer 11 years previously
True story and the thing that get’s me
Her fumbling was so apt – she was pretty useless with technology
