If we only knew what lifestyle the famous led,
Wouldn't be no applause, something else instead.
Want to know what goes on behind closed doors?
Who is tuning in to watch their pointless awards?
Some call their sacrifices a conspiracy theory,
Although, they tell you in their lyrics and imagery.
Kanye told a reporter while sitting back in his car,
Blood is spiritual currency but can only go so far.
YouTuber truthers are there and spilling the beans,
The hidden hand watches us all from high beams.

Just check into the true story behind Goethe's and earlier, Christopher Marlowe's Faustus if you want to begin unraveling what's in kinda ancient history, I suspect. Albeit the Scriptures will suffice if you're serious. Excellently rendered with great imagery and a deeply haunting poignancy. Thank you for sharing.
Woah ok, I will have to look into that, thanks!
You're welcome. The poet who wisely directed me to write Petrarchan sonnets when I was only beginning to learn how to sonneteer also directed me to read Marlowe's original version of Dr. Faustus, and finally buying my own copy after over a decade, that's the reason for my comment.
Thanks very much for the info, very interesting.
A poem that reminds us that what many covet and lust after is not what it seems. All that glitters is not gold. Good write
Appreciate it.
