the hunger

gray0328

some pierce the pie in hunger's name

their hands steady but their hearts tame

others gaze at the piece, frozen still

waiting for the world to bend its will

the crust breaks, secrets spill to the plate

but who will taste before it’s too late

to raise the fork or let it rest

a choice that measures life’s test

one hungers with a fire burning inside

the other watches, letting time decide

between effort’s sweat and sloth’s reply

who truly savors the gift of the pie

A great message contained in this pie of a poem. I wonder who will savor its meaning. There are those that do and those that expect to be taken care of. Those that turn nature in their favor and those that expect entitlement. Nature serves the pie and she is just. A fave Gray
