for sister kathrine

Jon Nakapalau

the purest disappoinment i have ever seen
in your tired eyes
trying to convince me to do my math homework
making fun of you
during recess
what made a 7th grade boy
think he was smarter
than someone who had spent her life teaching
looking back I see how hard you tried to help me
all the doors along the corridor of years locked
a key you offered rejected
perhaps that is the folly of youth
expressed mathematically
we must grow older
to see what has been lost.

Clever write the ending made perfect logical and mathematical sense tying it together. Well done

We get wiser as we get older and get to understand things we never realised in the past, enjoyed the read
