Who do you trust when the ground starts to shift,
And life-altering currents, a sudden, swift gift?
Did you ever find moments, both dazzling and dire,
One step ahead, then ten steps back, through the fire?
Only to find, when the smoke cleared away,
An incredible open door, blazing like day.
It's a beautiful summer, the air hangs so still,
With a sweet, lazy hum on the window sill.
From the sun-dusted street, two clear melodies rise,
A chorus of choice, reflected in eyes.
The Watermelon Man, with his cool, juicy plea,
The Ice Cream Man's jingle, a sweet fantasy.
They pass at the crossroads, a delicious design,
Two beckoning comforts, perfectly aligned.
Who do you pick, when the moment is near?
The refreshing quick bite, or the treat held so dear?
Do you run for the melon, so crisp and so deep?
Or the melting sweet swirl, secrets to keep?
I say neither, for wisdom's a deeper embrace,
You hold the true power, the time and the space.
Beyond the immediate, the craving so brief,
Lies a wider horizon, a profound, sweet relief.
The watermelon could be a pure, cool delight,
A refreshing surprise, bathed in sun's golden light.
Or the ice cream, a cool treat, a sugary quest,
A risk worth the taking, a joy truly blest.
But then, hear the whisper, the call from within,
Your intuition's clear voice, where true paths begin.
Seize the whole day, with a confident stride,
Let your spirit take flight, nowhere to hide.
Run as fast as you can, let your heart lead the way,
Towards the wild dreams that await you today.

The title says it all, trust yourself and your dreams. There are immediate pleasures that tempt and then there are those that provide a longer lasting enjoyment. Nicely worded with great rhyme and meter this poem presents the issue of trust and in the end the only one that we can trust for sure is ourselves. All else we can try if we have the desire and courage but trust itself only us. Well done
