Why is respect being lost,
Lost in the world where we live.
In my youth respect was there
And elders were respected.
But life has changed,
Respect and politeness are going,
Going away from our lives.
But what we must know
Is that respect is so important,
So important in our personalities.
It is like an investment,
If you respect others
It will return to us,
And it will return with profit.

Because people no longer care as we now live in a non face to face environment, we live in a world behind screens and even young parents of today give new born babies i-pads in their buggies rather than sing a sweet song. I have worked with young children all my life and still do, I see the parenting differences, but that just my personal opinion. 🌹
Yes you are quite right Teddy, parents do nor bring up there children to talk to other people.

To respect unconditionally is the goal… old or youth… if it is righteous then respect follows… great poem
Very true Demar, if only people would understand that that is the way to be.

Good write Gold. Yes, not even a thank you or 'ta muchly' - sometimes just a grunt.
Thanks Orchi, very true.

Yes Andy the world changes and not always for the best. A world of social distancing, fragmentation, frustration, a breakdown in values, resentment of power, where authority is viewed the enemy. A good read Andy
Thankyou for your kind understanding words soren.

Your most welcome Andy
You can't earn respect behind a screen or phone, you have to meet and get to know people for respect to be there, very valid write
So very true Tobani, you need to meet people in person and talk to them.
Andy
You are very welcome
Yes , your poetry displays changing values in society. But every generation thinks they are last mannered members of society.
