History

Keeter C

Show me an empire that never dies.

History repeats thru toil and tears

What one didn’t end full of lies?

Show me a successful empire of a thousand years.

Many remain diminished from the greatness to which they are tied.

Most exhausted their resources and finances spread too thin.

All thought it would last forever ignoring the past.

It’s amazing the confidence that we will always win.

Why do we think it will always last?

Such an empire does exist.

It’s far from us know but coming rapidly near.

Once arrived the pattern will not persist.

The arrival of it is what I

yearn to hear.

Looking over history all empires have dwindled and died and this poem looks for the emergence of a new one that will last. Nicely done
