Glad She Survived!!?

She was beaten raped tortured to an inch of her life.

Then like a piece of rubbish thrown out and cast aside.

The doctor said it's not all bad at least you survived.

She looked at him with anger and then inside she wished she had died.

Precisely. Callously examined like the nonhuman entity the medical profession seems to relegate patients to in order to survive, the extreme mistreatment is tossed aside as if it couldn't damage beyond repair. Beautifully rendered in striking brevity with excellent imagery and a painfully haunting poignancy. Thank you for sharing.

There are worse things than death. Sometimes life is merely a reward for the selfish. A powerful poem that breaths anger, disgust, pity and sadness a powerful combination. With such a strong combination of emotions it has to be A fave

Tobani… this poem demands reflection. “At least you survived”… that line enraged me because I have received such flippant BS before. You named the cruelty survivors face even in recovery. You didn’t soften it...and that matters. Thank you for writing this. 🌹👏

    Hello, Tobani,

This is a perfect poem about a living hell. Succinct and to the gut, deftly composed with grit and compassion. Excellent.

    Fond regards,

    Tony.

To have empathy for someone elses pain, is to have suffered yourself. To say it's not all bad, is to dismiss the humanity of the person who is suffering. A very powerful write in four lines.

Wow, how raw and dark the veil that today's text carries, along with the power of a feeling that wants to explode, taking everyone with it. Thank you so much for sharing it, Lord. Kind regards, and a good week to you and yours!

Just cause someone survives rape it doesn't mean everything is gonna be okay, it ruins their mental health, makes them hyper aware and anxious about everything and mainly their surroundings, trust breaks with everything altering the bonds created. A good read.
