Stop Adding Songs

Samuel

If you love me

not just the memory of me

then stop adding songs

to a playlist

you never play out loud.

Stop hiding behind lyrics

when I’ve been begging for answers.

Stop sending 30 hours of maybe

when I asked one question

and got silence.

I don’t need a soundtrack.

I need truth.

If I’m still in your heart,

say it without music.

If I’m not,

don’t let the melody lie for you.

Because I’ve danced in silence long enough

and your playlist

can’t love me back.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I didn’t write this out of anger. I wrote it because I’m tired of decoding songs when a sentence would do. If you feel something — say it. And if you don’t — let me go for real. That’s all I’m asking. Just truth. Not tunes.

A powerful message in this poem that actions speak louder than words and that one must see to believe. Well written

I love this it is so true, we arent all mind readers, we just need people to say what they mean and the truth, nicely expressed and written
