There in the distance, a convoy of cars
Led by a black one, long and highly polished;
The one behind similarly clad.
And there walking on the path
A man of many years;
Walking upright in a suit, slightly tattered,
But worn with pride.
As the first car of the cortege passed
This man stopped, turned to face the hearse,
And bowed his head in respect,
To a person he had never known.
The funeral procession passed,
And the man continued on his way;
A respectful man.

That's what we've needed to rediscover for a long while now!
Very true arqios, thank you.
Andy
Much lacking not just for funerals but in life in general but as they say, respect is earned and maybe with the way people are there is not much earning going on. Respect is also taught and maybe not many parents are setting a good example in this area. A most needed poem Andy and well said.
Your words are much appreciated soren, thank you.

You are welcome Andy
Not just in the funeral sense, it is lacking in everything, nicely done
Very true Tobani.

Good write, Andy.
Thank you Jerry.

Sometimes respect is shown, as often as a 'proper' comedy show on TV - hardly ever!
I might try disrespect - not hold a door open for someone. I didn't even get a grunt in response lately, and more than once. Let 'em get on with it - struggle with pushchairs, shopping, etc. That'll teach 'em!
I always try to help people Orchi.

My Father's Funeral - Being a D Day and Korea War Veteran - His Coffin was draped in The Union Flag and only one person removed their Cap when we passed. A fine Poem.
People just do not care nowadays Kevin but I am sure that you do as do I.
