than £10 in my bank account
and only Half
that in pocket change
i'm left to wonder if success
is just around the corner
like it was
for all those poets
I admire or if
I'll end up like
the other ones
who I like even more

Wonderful write, lovely sense of humour, enjoyed the read
Guess time alone will tell. Artists either required patrons whose will they were obligated to honour, or else lived and died unknown. Countless left to such a fate, this is beautifully rendered with lovely imagery and a delicate poignancy. Thank you for sharing, and thereby raising the question.
