Well Inclined

Neville

Well Inclined

At very first glance

she appeared

to be a blank canvas ..

But that was

now a long time ago ..

Today she

is covered in flowers,

handfuls of

mythical birds, exotic

wild animals,

a few more than just

dubious

Japanese kanji, plus

the names of

each of her children

and a handful

   of dead former lovers ..

Neville this poem is beautiful. It well can be an allegory for the world itself. Being a nature lover I soon will join the dead former lovers.

        Most welcome my friend

      • Cheeky Missy

Wow, blank canvas indeed! Wisely rendered, hinting, she was never so blank as the term suggests, and how beautifully you show the same, to effect. Exquisitely rendered as your wont with superb imagery and a tantalizing, flirtatious poignancy. Thank you for sharing.

Neville, this is beautifully layered...what starts as simplicity reveals a life inked with love, loss, and legend. There’s tenderness in the telling, but no illusion...just honest observation. A portrait built line by line, like memory itself. Very very well done. Or in my world πŸ¦β€β¬›πŸ¦β€β¬›πŸ¦β€β¬›πŸ¦β€β¬›πŸ¦‡ Now, I need not tell you how special four ravens are...but four ravens and a bat? That is Ozzy Osbourne special, my friend! Seriously, all silliness aside, I loved this. A fave! πŸ€˜πŸ˜ŽπŸ–€πŸ™πŸ•―οΈ

I’m struck by the way the poem balances playfulness (exotic animals!) with poignancy (the weight of those lost relationships). It makes me wonder: if our own body or a loved one’s were a veritable canvas, what stories might we see written there?

                    • Neville

I think you may have something there arqios .. I'm gonna dwell on it .. Neville

Your poem β€œWell Inclined” explores the evolution of a person, particularly a woman, from being perceived as a "blank canvas" to becoming a rich tapestry of experiences, relationships, and personal history. The poet seems to revolve around identity, the complexities of life, and how experiences shape a person. The imagery of flowers, mythical creatures, and names of children and lovers suggests a life full of beauty, complexity, loss, and love.
