My words on deaf ears.

Friendship

They slipped away in tiny betrayals:
silent sacrifices no one recognized,
promises tangled and broken like loose thread,
smiles stitched tight to hide cracks beneath.
I became the background noise, the steady hum—
holding fragments together with quiet hands,
enduring through storms none saw coming.
The one who listens without being heard;
the refuge everyone seeks but never questions: “Are you okay?”
One morning, without fanfare or witnesses—
just me and a mirror’s honest gaze—I paused.
No tears fell because exhaustion had stolen them long ago.
I spoke softly to my reflection:
“That’s enough.”
Almost seven years lived in silence and waiting;
now time bends toward something else—
perhaps even peace. never beg for help again.

    Somber and sad. Words from someone who gave everything even when no one is looking. Vital energy wasted can be thought of immediately. The pain left a mark on us and will help us next time. I enjoyed it very much. I won't try to explain it much; you just know what it feels like. Thank you so much for sharing. Best regards.

      A poem of honesty to others and self and a pledge to self to not allow what has happened in the past. Recognition becomes resolution. Nicely written in poetic form

              Perhaps you are one of the countless flowers which bloom in the shadows, like myself. I'm a violet. Trampled, crushed, mowed down, but bouncing back and smiling at the heavens so quietly. Beautifully rendered with excellent imagery and a haunting poignancy. Thank you for sharing.

                Hello, Friendship,

                Well they should have listened because your poems, prose and reviews are loaded to the brim with wisdom, knowledge, compassion and reverence. Those of deaf ears, their loss. Now you seem to have found peace, I sincerely hope you have. Another honest passage of splendid poetry.

                Fond regards,

                Tony.
