Yamatorige - Feathers of A Copper Pheasant
Somewhere high above
the most precariously placed
of snow-capped peaks,
bathed in those long golden
shadows of Fuji ..
She first came into our view
as if in slow motion
and began to carve a series
of near perfect circles,
figure of eights and a single
double helix with just
the tip of outstretched wings ..

Yamatorige one of Japan's most treasured and beautiful cultural possesions, and probably the most beautiful sword ever made, a lovely write, enjoyed
Even as I type, a BIG arigato is winging it's way to you sir .. Neville
You are very welcome ( dou itashimashite)
So often the title is requisite in understanding the poem. Here with the title's help the imagery of the poem paints a perfect picture where nature and symmetry become one. Very nicely worded this poem puts me there the setting painted. I have seen pheasants before but they have always been on the ground flushed out of bush with an explosion of wings making quite a distinctive sound. Most lovely Neville
thanking you kindly has become quite the conditioned reflex my friend .. thank you kindly .. Neville
And saying your most welcome too has been such so I will put it more plainly Neville it is truly my pleasure
Grand. Set me to researching what I've hitherto been ignorant of, will you? Fascinating, indeed. This is a charming use of poetry. I do so LOVE it. Excellently rendered with perfect imagery and a tantalizing poignancy. Thank you very much for sharing.
