What do you do with an unwanted pregnant dog when your world is full of strays and your pockets are empty
How would a dog treat you if homeless and he has no pockets
Why do we think only people go to heaven

I really enjoyed this one
You have a gift
You are too kind my friend. I do appreciate you reads and most kind words of encouragement
This is a beautiful reminder of humanity which should be no different between humans and animals, takes a lot for some to find empathy and compassion. sorrenbarret I'm off to limbo in any case somewhere in the middle, maybe I will be able to see Heaven and Hell? How much fun that would be. 🌹
Quite the touristic trip my friend I may bump into you on the way. Thanks so much for the read and kind words of support
Why not to send it in an animal shelter ?
Indeed so we do with our refugees. Those not adoptable are then put down. So easy to say we have done our duty when they are out of sight. Thanks so much for the read and comment my friend.
I love this and wholeheartedly believe in it, kindness and compassion should apply to all living things, enjoyed the read
Thank you so much Tobani for the read and understanding of the underlying message it is appreciated
You are very welcome
Hello, Soren,
Man's best friend when all is well. To do what a dog would do, that is the question. I say, homeless or not, care for her and hope for the best, that said, it is a conundrum. Well put, said and questioned in your usual compassionate style.
All the best,
Tony.
Thank you Tony for the read and kind words. Yes we do what we can
A profoundly moving, soul-stirring poem. Your poem beautifully weaves together compassion, responsibility, and the interconnectedness of all beings, human and animal, inspiring a deeper reflection on our shared humanity. It raises vital ethical questions about how society treats the vulnerable, particularly those who are unwanted or marginalized, such as pregnant dogs and strays, urging us to reconsider our values. The poet thoughtfully invites a contemplation on the nature of humanity and empathy, questioning why we often draw a line between humans and animals in matters of dignity and the afterlife, encouraging a more inclusive and compassionate worldview.
Thank you Friendship for the review and understanding of the underlying message of the poem. To what point does charity extend and when does it become a burden that is unmanageable and the lifeboat will sink with too much weight. A question that each will have to answer for themselves and that is what defines their character.
Thank you Friendship for sharing your insight and values
You're very welcome, Sorenbarrett
There are those who might say its a man thing .. It's not, is it .. it takes all sorts .. My guess is, that heaven is full of em and in all shapes and sizes .. Tho' maybe simple in composition, what we have here, is something much more profound and highly complex touching on the higher corporeal components that which sets man apart .. This is really about compassion and empathy isn't it .. or am I barking up the wrong tree ..
You old dog you got it from the start. I have several stray dogs that people have loosed roaming the woods and fields and I ask myself where does compassion end and enablement begin? To feed and house the number grows and they take over killing natural wild life. To ignore and allow to fend for themselves is hard on the heart seeing a dead dog starved on the trail. Pups harder still. How we treat the homeless, refugees that overwhelm our shores and even our own poor and needy defines the character of a nation a man himself Thank you Neville for your understanding of this issue and poem
Beautiful, I enjoyed it very much. Thank you for sharing it, and I completely share the sentiment behind this text. Best regards.
Thank you so much for the supportive comment
Character on view 24/7, in many ways a daunting prospect in life. 🙏🏻🕊
Thanks Cryptic for the read and comment always appreciated
All dogs go there ..all of them .
Thanks David for the review and comment it is appreciated
It's 3 am and another night I can't sleep and here you come with this little treat! Yes it is so true, I believe 99% of shelters in the uk are in it for the money. Its a ball ache to volunteer and they hate any opinions on how it's run! They never have the dog in mind and condition, most to stay in fight or flight.
I must say though after letting my own dog have puppies! It's not something I'll rush to do again 3 out of 5 made it. To watch her just ignore it and it just cry out with no hope of her caring because it's lower have was not formed and just mulled in one. Yet the head was perfect and calling out for nearly 2 hours. I sat and cried so hard (and now writing this) on the sofa, thinking of what it would of gone through if we was not there. This world can definitely feel unfair but I did it to better my understanding for work and give the world 3 well balanced puppies to help us rebalance as mine does me.
Hope this is all readable! And thanks again for helping me pass the time.
Much peace and respect
Thank you so much for the read and thoughtful response. This was written as a moral dilema sparked by a real situation. Where I live I see many homeless dogs for which my heart goes out. To save one and not others does not seem right yet too many to save all. If I simply put food out they fight and there is never enough with the weakest loosing out. And so it is with us as humans in this world. How we react to this problem defines our character and how we are seen as a person.
Well now I wonder where that is? Yes stray dogs are hard to watch, when we have been domesticating them for longer than we've been scribbling on walls. Some say it's the reason we evolved more by use them back in days.
Right now in Brazil where dogs run the streets and the hills un fixed they propagate and the weak die. I love dogs but like a lifeboat around the Titanic can't take them all in
Didn't God also create the animals? He did, and found them good. So what to do with the "unwanted" dog?.. Want it. Love it. Just as God intended. Heaven is full of everything He loves. Not just humans. Excellent write!
I too would agree many do not. Thank you so much for the read and kind understanding words
Yeah, many "religious" people do make heaven sound quiet miserable. Like them.
I've taken in my share of strays. People and animals alike. I made sure everyone had something to eat. It might not be much and it might even be the food I was going to eat, but I'd rather go hungry than to watch someone or something suffer.
Commendable, quite noble and highly irregular now days. Thank you for the read and understanding comment. It is hard to save the world when your life boat is overloaded.
Nicely written
Thank you so much for the review and kind words they are appreciated
