The morning breaks, but silence reigns,
No whispered songs or soft refrains.
Where your bright presence used to be,
Now only quiet wood meets me.
The sun still climbs, the sky is wide,
But light and color seem to hide.
My laughter died, my world went stark,
The day you vanished from my ark.
My heart cries out, a desperate plea:
Mom, I just want you back with me.
The kitchen keeps your gentle trace,
Your apron waits in its old place.
A hint of scent, a whisper clear,
Of mother's love that isn't here.
They say the pain will start to cease,
But you were home, my shade, my peace.
And though the seasons move and stack,
I just want my mom back.
That ghost of letters, unaddressed,
A shadow where my heart repressed
The words I failed to form and find,
A silent storm within my mind.
I felt their weight, though unexpressed,
Press down on you, Moma, unblessed,
And watched the distance grow between,
An echo lost, a muted scene.
Forgive me for the words unsaid,
The pain that reached you, left instead
Of comfort, truth, or gentle grace,
My silent pen in its dark place.
My heart's apology, unclothed by ink,
A sincere sorrow, on the brink.
Though that unseen sorrow left its sting,
A wound no spoken word can bring
To quiet peace, to mend, to claim—
I love you, Moma, all the same.
I cannot heal what never found words,
Nor fix the damage silence girds.
If love could bridge the cosmic span,
I'd cross all stars, defy all plans.
I'd give my breath, my very soul,
To make my precious mother whole.
To bring her back, just for one track.
Oh, I am so sorry.

A poem of a loss felt set so well in poetic rhyme and meter. A travail of pain and hurt that resurrects from the memories of the past. Shadows haunt this poem and leave only lost echoes of the familiar. A sad cry for return to the familiar. Nicely written
Thank you, Sorenbarrett, you are so right on, it's a very emotional journey for me then and now. I appreciate you taking the time to read my poem.
You are most welcome
A very honest, touching and heartfelt write over the strong feeling of loss that cannot be regained. The pain and hurt still haunt the vivid memories of the past, nicely expressed and written
Thank you, Poetic. I appreciate you taking the time to read my poem.
You are very welcome
A tremendous tribute to a much loved mum
Poetically it is bang on rhyme flow etc
But
It's the feeling that sets it apart
You did her proud
Thank you, Peto. I appreciate you taking the time to read my poem.
Rhymed couplets with a choppy rhythm which some editing could perfect in a trice. An idea which doubtless must resonate with many as mothers are an integral part of every last one of us. Prettily rendered with excellent imagery and a mournful poignancy. Thank you for sharing.
Filled with feeling .. this is a song of longing .. a true mourning song .. and so sadly enjoyed .. Neville
