Fakeness

Sassy Lou

A world full of fakeness

And everything in between

Smiles, gestures, words & more

I have seen it all

Nothing is real anymore

Not one thing at all

Strangers, acquaintances, friends & family too

Don't know who or what to believe

Or whom is out to get whom

The good times of yesteryear are memories at best

The good times of today are the fakest yet

The good times of the future we wish we could hold near

Paranoid, delusional, it's all in your head

Nobody would say or do anything like that

That's the fakest thing that you have ever said

A world full of fakeness

And everything in between

Smiles, gestures, words & more

I have seen it all

Nothing is real anymore

Not one thing at all

A poem that many can identify with. Not so sure it is only today, I remember when linoleum replaced wood floors, when formica replaced tile and granite. I remember when false words were said to preserve feelings, so they say. I remember when hugs turned to a pat on the back, now a stab. Today everything is plastic, digital when we used to write with ink on paper but once they wrote on stone. Maybe it is my perception but fake today is an extension of what has been fake for a long time. A lovely write with which I identify

A nicely crafted write, in a world that everything appears to be now fake, fakeness has always been there but today it seems the norm, nicely written
