Why is it so hard to be an optimist,
In a pessimistic world?
I look at the glass and see it half full,
While most see it half empty.
The world is a wonderful place;
I see smiling faces and happy people.
The good in people is so obvious.
But why do most only look for the bad?
Yes there is bad in the world,
But why look for it in every place.
Look at the places where all is well
And life remains simple and happy.
This world where the blame culture seems to thrive,
There are no longer any accidents
Because if you can hold someone to blame,
It means that a claim can be made,
To get money that you do not deserve.
Accidents do happen, but few see them as that.
Stevie Smith says not waving but drowning,
I say not drowning but waving.
Live for the moment!
It will not come again.

Good write Gold.
Thanks Orchi.
A good write Andy the body focus' on the pain not what feels good and as such we are miserable when we could be grateful that most of us feels well. A great message to a world in pain.
Thank you for your understanding words soren.

You are most welcome Andy
This poem speaks with clear-eyed warmth about choosing to see joy and goodness, even in a cynical, blame-driven world. It balances gentle idealism with awareness of the forces that undermine it, rejecting despair in favour of an active, hopeful stance. The closing twist on Stevie Smith’s line becomes a rallying cry to live fully in fleeting moments.
Thank you formyour kind words arqios.

Good write, Andy. Good read.
We could debate that optimism and pessimism are two halves of a whole.
But that would require wine and cheese.
It certainly would Jerry, mine is a Rioja and Dolcelatte.
Andy
