The Descendant of Dereliction

Tristan Robert Lange

Justice is never blind—
Unnerving the haughty hiders—
Destruction is dereliction’s descendant,
Glorified by those gorging on
Maggot bread; the rot spreads,
Engulfing all of the enamored.
Nemesis’ arrival will not be forlorn;
The day is coming; nay, it’s here.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This is the sixth vision in The Book of Tittu — a cycle of eight poems bound by a single, unflinching voice. Here, the reckoning arrives not as a whisper of someday but as a verdict already in motion. Justice sees, corruption feasts, and the rot spares none. Nemesis stands at the threshold, and the door is already open.

Impending doom in this poem. Alliteration aids in its flow as does some powerful words. Nicely composed it casts its shadow

          Hello, Tristan,

'nay, it's here.' A lightning strike to the stomach of the 'haughty hiders'. Another actioned packed verse of horrors powerfully expressed without inhibitions or pity as a poem of the like should be. Excellent!

          Fond regards,

          Tony.

Totally powerful and so very relatable on today of all days. I am a huge fan of justice and not of haughty (love that word) it's new to me. I feel your heart on your sleeve my dear Tristan 🌹

                  • Tristan Robert Lange

Yes...all for justice, but certainly can ditch haughtiness! Glad you love the word! So under used, right?!?!? 🤣 Thank you so much, dearest Teddy. This sixth vision in The Book of Tittu is searing and immediate; not a warning, but a verdict already unfolding. The imagery of “maggot bread” and “dereliction’s descendant” evokes a world where corruption is consumed and decay breeds destruction. Nemesis isn’t approaching; she’s arrived. A powerful, rhythmic reckoning that spares no one.

YESSSSS! Wow! We are synched for being on at the same time! Just when I thought I commented on the "last" comment...there you are my friend! LOL! Thank you, so much, for your time and very astute analysis. I am so glad the poem delivered, and I pray you find the final two to be powerful conclusions to this series of poetic visions. Always appreciated! ⚖️🌩️🕰️🙏

Can't hardly wait! The one post per 24-hour period can drive one mad at times!

                        • Tristan Robert Lange

Yay! For sure! I overall appreciate it and and follow it elsewhere too...but sometimes it brings out a grrrrrr. LOL!

                          • arqios

That it does! Grrrr!!! Trying to learn to find some contentment in what comes my way even if it trickles and sputters… lol. I feel you 🙏🏻🕊

                            • Tristan Robert Lange

                              For sure! 🤣

                            • Cheeky Missy

Say you so, eh? Hmm. This piece looks like it was fun to write, tripping down the page unrolling a dirty carpet for whose feet? Methinks consonance and assonance have danced herein, and the dark ambiance cannot be shifted. Interesting. Excellently rendered with grand imagery and a curious poignancy. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you, dearest Missy…I am glad it delivered. There was a bit of fun in writing it, I will not lie. 🙂 I have been very deeply invested in this series and this one I certainly wanted to feel like the thunder clapping back following the lightning strike that The Unveiling was. Anywho, I truly Appreciate your read, my friend. ⚖️🌩️🕰️🙏
