Trapped.

Friendship

My friend believes the slate can be wiped clean,
A brand new dawn, a fresh and vibrant scene.
They see a path where I can step anew,
And build a world where sorrow can't pursue.
Perhaps they think a journey far away,
Could shed the burdens of a past grim day.
Or maybe, to just whisper, "Let it go,"
And watch the shadows instantly withdraw.
They picture me, with courage, standing tall,
Unburdened by the memory's dark thrall.
But oh, dear friend, if you could only know,
The silent chains that make my spirit slow.
This isn't just a memory I can flee,
I am so trapped, eternally within me.
No visible bar, no tangible lock I find,
Just walls of silence, crushing heart and mind.
You speak of freedom, skies of endless blue,
While I am tethered, bound by what I've been through.
You see the light, a hopeful, guiding star,
But I'm ensnared, no matter where you are.
If only you knew just how deep I'm caught,
This life you wish for, utterly unbought.

Such beautiful rhyme enfolds this poem where it is pointed out that there are two points of view. In that line alone may lay the answer in that changing a point of view can change reality. Very nicely worded this poem

When we as people do feel trapped in a world of the past, it's nice to have a friend that believes we can get over it, but we naturally assume they don't know how we really feel and were to scared to tell them, but sometimes we might assume wrong and they do understand more than we realise, and they could be the key to breaking those chains, nicely expressed and written

Forsooth. I guess I've said as much as thousand times and far less succinctly than yourself. Ambivalence has long been mine to stoke, yet by this late in the game I tend to succumb to the grief and ask what the aka living don't want to hear. Beautifully rendered with excellent imagery and a haunting poignancy. Thank you for sharing.

A tough one there. And the triumph of finding articulation, small victories 🕊️🙏🏻

My friend, this carries a raw weight…the kind of truth you can’t just walk away from. The rhythm of chains and silence runs steady through each line, and it lingers long after the read. It’s not loud, but relentless…a quiet reality that feels immovable. Beautifully done. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

                    Dear, Friendship,

The dire situation of the protagonist overwhelms all advice from a friend, no matter how sincere one cannot ease the state of hopelessness, trapped indeed. A tragic verse, tough to stomach yet somewhat remedied by the poetic flair of its author. The reader is left helpless though in awe of the poem itself.

Wishing you all the very best,

                    Tony.
