The Making of the Dawn

Tony Grannell

From the shallow sways of slumber
as the aging darkness wanes.
Where laments are wont to wonder,
recollecting past refrains.

The impending light debating,
what complexions to declare.
An awakening contemplating
in a moment made with care.

Without a trace or that between
in whatever circumstance.
Its vision donned in quaint esteem
from the rays of its expanse.

There’s a leaning toward perfection
of a blooming state of change.
Through a calm without reflection
with a flair to rearrange.

Midst the beauty of reviving
there’s a service to behold.
Where creations found residing
in the senses they unfold.

With the light a wealth of meaning
whilst its phases keep in time.
Dressing honours in redeeming
when found falling into line.

To the ending, shades in waiting,
holding evenness on course.
By a route without escaping
through an awe within a force.

Born a light in its believing,
swears its hosts to hail, anew!
Feel the fears of dark conceding
when the dawn comes into view.

You have captured the awakening of the dawn, as well as of the mind in this most beautiful verse. Your lovely, lyrical poem flows seamlessly from line to line, stanza to stanza, and I love reading it aloud. It is always a joy!

That phrase “born a light in its believing” really lingers in all the right ways, Tony. You gave dawn a faith of its own, and it shines through the whole piece. Strong work, my friend. Love it. A fave.🌹🖤🙏🕯️🦇🐦‍⬛
