They say you can’t have your cake and eat it too
To that, I say: stop speaking before you think
Of course I can
If I have my cake in front of me, it is mine
Until
Someone decides they want it
They can find the means to take it from me
Then
I will have had my cake
And never have had eaten the cake too
But
If I have my cake in front of me, it is mine
Until
I eat it
Then
I will have had my cake
And I will have eaten it too
I will have the memory of my beautifully made cake
And the memory of how it tasted
Memories are all we carry with us
Possessions can be stolen, lost, or taken
But experiences
Experiences last as long as synapses fire
When the golden hue began to fade
And the last leaf turned its final shade
I sat alone in lap with moldy cake
Regretting pieces I did not partake

- Comment from author about the poem: I have heard so many strange cliche sayings in my brief time here on this marble, but, \\\"You can\\\'t have your cake and eat it too\\\" has always irked me, so I decided to write a little humorous rebuttal to this common phrase. This started while listening to a collection of Frost poems, so to that I owe the last stanza.

I hear your logic but I would add that if you eat your cake you do have it. It is just inside. A fun read
Nice Logic! I will contemplate on this, the cake is not a lie, it is part of you forever.
