Outcasts' Oculus

Tristan Robert Lange

It exists
At the center of reason—
Large, oculus, made of obsidian—
A monument of fear and faith towering
Above scorched land. A sanctuary for aftermath
Souls who’ve found rest from wandering, separation
From torrential torment, and perpetual peace from
Persistent pain. This is the outcasts peristyle sanctum,
A temple that was built on and around the eternal rock
Of righteous rebellion;                     it was built by all those
Betrayed by a world that                   promised us life and offered
Damnation. Welcome to                     this temple, sit in the circle
Around its walls, peer into                 the center, gaze at the altar
Stone, lit by lights of hope. This is home of the hallowed ones,
This is our peoples’ house, and it will not be torn down by hate.

An incredible strength in this dear Tristan may it never be torn down and those who want to tear it down should simply go to hell. 🌹

Dearest Teddy 🌹 Your words mean the world. That strength you see is born of scars, and knowing souls like you stand at the gates with me makes this temple unshakable. Let those who’d tear it down choke on their own hate...a hellish fate! 🤣 The rest of us can keep building light together (even if it comes through some pretty dark, messed up poems at times. 🤷‍♂️ Speaking for me, at least! 🤭 ). 🏛️👁️🕯️🙏

The format again emulates the theme. A poetic metaphor as well. A sanctuary within volcanic rock lovely

Soren, thank you, my friend. I’m glad the form and the sanctuary imagery carried through...it came from a soul-deep place for sure.. Means much to have you see it and appreicate it my friend. And yeah, there's something about a sanctuary forged from Earth's hottest matter. Again, very grateful. 🏛️👁️🕯️🙏

Oh...you know he is...him, Tom, and oi be, yes Wan Ken...oi be indeed! 🤦‍♂️🤣 But hey, at least I didn't mention their dietary restrictions! 😜

              • orchidee

I've not heard it called dietary restrictions before. I've not heard what? Don't answer that! lol.

Your poem explores themes of resilience, community, and sanctuary in the face of adversity. It represents a haven for those who have been marginalized, highlighting the coexistence of fear and faith in a space built for healing and belonging.
