We are birds that only know the cage
Dogs that still love those that beat us
Freedom's embrace a distant stranger
Safer to be fed by a known tyrant

Indeed, better the tyrant you know than the one you don't know. Birds that are caged go through a painful tragedy. They will never see the free world. They will drop dead in the cage. Then the "owner" brings in another bird... The faithfulness of dogs is such that even ones that are beaten will still wag their tail in friendship at the very people who aggress them !...
Thank you Soman for the read and kind words of support they are always most appreciated

You have hypnotized me with this one. Brilliant & powerful. 🌹 We are all these things and more.
Thank you my friend your words are most gracious and appreciated
This poem conveys the power of a strong leader. For good or bad. In tyranny we still must survive as a species. Great write.
Indeed so true you have seen the other side of the coin from the weak follower and indeed it takes both. I appreciate the read and comment my friend
Powerful work.
Thank you so much Thomas I appreciate your support
We crave safety so much that we don't realize what we're sacrificing to get it. The price of a government for sure. Well done, and an easy favorite!
Thank you my friend for the read and kind words of support they are highly valued
Of course!
Deep. A statement on socialism or communism? Or a statement on those who would give up freedoms for security? Nice.
Thanks so much for the read and interpretation. It is most valued
Beautifully written, love it.
Thank you so much your words are most appreciated and valued
Soren, this one is stark. The cage, the beaten dog, the tyrant we still cling to…brutal, unflinching truth. That image of dogs still loving those that beat them really hit hard. Powerful work, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Thank you Tristan for the read and kind words of encouragement they do help more than you know.

A Pyrrhic victory perhaps 🤔

Andy
Thank you for the read and understanding Andy it means a lot
may be a safe bet, but it would be great to have the strength to fly free - it would open up a beautiful world full of lovely surprises...
Thank you for reading and yes it is too bad that we allow comfort of the familiar to out weigh the potential of the unknown
exactly - we should not let our doubts and fears keep us from reaching out for the stars...
try it ..have a wonderful weekend
This hit home Soren thank you for sharing
