wren

And I want, Dear God, I want

I have been wanting my whole life

Chest heavy and lungs tight and hands outstretched, straining

I have never known it, God, is it everything?

I am not ambitious, I am not determined, but I want I want I want

I move forward because I must

Love and pain and laughter and hatred

I want to know, I need to know

There is nothing within me but want

How do I learn to live with it

I am whole, I am whole, I ache for it

I ache

I hear the song Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar in this poem. I guess it is the phrase (I want I want I want) that stimulated it. A powerful poem of desire and an asking with force of the human soul. Nicely written For such deep expression of emotion a fave

    Dear, wren,

As if pleading to know, the pursuit of knowledge, the knowledge of life and all the 'wants' therein in this very fine poem of yours. I have enjoyed this verse, very much so. Well done indeed.

Wishing you all the very best,

    Tony.
