Vincent

arqios

Hurried steps in Amsterdam,
off to the station,
a train already scheduled.

On Museumplein, Van Gogh’s place
rose like a sun,
but I had no minutes to spare.

A brochure folded into my pocket,
Vincent absent from the walls,
his colors scattered elsewhere.

I found him in the tulip fields,
brushstrokes rooted in soil,
petals burning with his hand.

And still the station called—
its clock face stern,
its whistle the frame I never escaped.

Subtle yet the message caught like the accent of fine brush strokes and slight changes in color. The rush like the people around the artist too busy to see the beauty and majesty of the art, life gets in the way. Loved it Cryptic you are getting very good at planting the subtle into your poems.

Weโ€™re in such a rush, indeed; and the current too strong to swim against. Thanks, dear friend ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

The poem suggests a yearning for deeper experiences and a connection to beauty that is often overshadowed by time constraints and the demands of the modern world.

Ah. This Van Gogh makes me want to "tip toe through the tulips"! ๐Ÿคฃ Sorry, I couldn't resist the Tiny Tim reference. This is stunning, my friendโ€”Vincent absent from walls but blazing in fields, tulips burning with his hand. The metaphor of timeโ€™s station pulling us away from what matters is powerful. ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ๐Ÿฆโ€โฌ› If I am reading your comment right and you are traveling to this very locale, would love to see a real life picture. Perhaps the trip will allow for such a poem/picture pairing! No pressure, though! LOL! Would love to travel to Amsterdam someday. Anywho, safe travels and wonderful poem!

            • arqios

Alas I will have to go again as that particular trip didnโ€™t see me taking many photos. If at all. But I shall scour the attic and be hopeful.

A great piece, mate. Really captured the sense of walking in the artist's footsteps.

it is interesting to see what inspired the painter/artist and one may or may not be able to catch the true reason it resonated though..it's worth thinking about
