Dwelling Delight

Tune: Doncaster

('Put thou thy trust in God')

Psalm 84 v.1-5

*********

How amiable be

Your tabernacles, see

We, O Lord of hosts, our souls long

For them, there they belong

We long and even faint

For your courts, e'en each saint

Our hearts and our flesh cry out for

The living God e'ermore

The sparrow there has found

A house there, chirps resound

And the swallow too there does nest

Her young in that place best

O Lord of hosts, our King

And our God, we do sing

Unto you, blessed are they that dwell

In your house, good they tell

They tell the good they know

And praise to you they show

Blessed are they whose strength is in you

Your ways [be] in their hearts true

        Most welcome Orchi

Orchi, this is wonderful…you’ve caught that old-world reverence and rhythm perfectly. It reads like it was meant to be sung under stained glass, echoing through time itself. There’s something deeply comforting in that cadence...like a psalm rediscovered.

And you’ll be pleased to know, Ol’ Tom and Obi heard it drifting down the canal while taking the gondola to Wan Ken. Ol’ Tom nearly dropped his pipe trying to hum along—then fell straight into the water and was too tired to swim. Obi didn’t wonder why, but he did fetch ’im out with his special foam float (Jedi foam, that is). Said it reminded him of the “good old liturgical days,” though he still thinks Obi sings flat. Some friend that Tom is, after Obi saved him and all. 😂

Thank you T. I base most poems on KJV / AV (King James Version / Authorised Version).
As for Obi - Jedi foam, what is that? But don't answer that. Oops! lol.

            Indeed! Makes sense...it's poetic...and it's Public Domain! 🤣

              As for the foam...🛟

Good one Orchi. It is good to see you writing these again.

Thank you Gold. I told a poet, partly I couldn't think of anything more to slag off KP with, and Fido said 'Give it a rest, will you'. lol.
