Tune: Golden Sheaves
('To thee, O Lord, our hearts we raise')
Deuteronomy 26 v.1-11 parts
**********
At first fruits, harvest festival*
The people presented all
In baskets first fruits of the land
Provided by God's good hand
And then the story they did tell
Which did have an outcome well
Though they were in Egypt oppressed
And in troubles sore distressed
But they became a great nation
With many daughters and sons
And when they to the Lord God cried
He helped them, it not denied
He saw their labour, affliction
The oppression of each one
And brought them forth with mighty hand
To enter the Promised Land
A land that with milk and honey
Flows, satisfies needs freely
And here before you, Lord, they set
What through your grace did each get
They now do worship here before
You who are their Lord God sure
Friends, strangers, neighbours here rejoice
Supplied again goods fresh, choice* (*e.g. best quality)
--------
* This is the festival of the first produce of harvest, held apx end May / early June.
The harvest around apx. September / October is called Ingathering / Booths / Shelters.

Well Orchi that is why I love your hymns not only historic and educational but meet the criteria for me saying I went to church today. Loved it
Thank you SB. Fido says - Ooh, it's educational on 'ere, you know, not any old rubbish!' He knows. lol.
You are welcome
Good stuff!
Thank you A.
Nah - it woz always called Harvest Sunday and occurred in October when I went to Sunday School....... You are just making it complicated to ensure I don't pop up there again... (they made me mouth the words but make no sound when I woz in the choir)....
Thank you D. Doh! But it was the beginning and ending of the harvest each year! Who ate all the fruit? Dunno - but I ate all the pies.
Me!
I knew it was someone on 'ere ate 'em all!
Nobody should hunger in our world Orchi.
Andy
Thank you Gold. It must be mankind's fault - stockpiling, wasting, not sharing out food evenly. Though there are good things too - Food banks, even Pet Food banks, etc.
Beautiful.
Thank you T.
Now that's more like the old rodent we all used to know .. 😎👍
Thank you N. I'm a harvest mouse in the field in the clip! lol.
