Halloween

Poetic Licence

Notice of absence from Poetic Licence
Wishing you all a fantastic Halloween, Guy Fawkes,
Christmas and Happy New Year..

Halloween.
It has quickly come round to that frighting time of the year again
When the bad witches and Wizards become all our children's friends.
All year we say talking to people you do not know is very dangerous
Now we encourage them to go out, harass and beg from strangers
We don’t let them out after dark all year round in our neighbourhoods
Then we let them roam in large gangs in search of sweet candy food.
So, my dear fellow poets as we get ever closer to the witching night
Do you think what we encourage our children to do is wrong or right

Painted faces
Ghostly gowns
Burning lanterns
Around the town
Childrens ghoulish
Screams abound
Upon hallowed
Halloweens crown.

Shadows creep on Halloween night,
Ghosts and ghouls give such a fright.
Pumpkins grin with eerie glow,
Boo! The scares begin to show

'Twas the evening I said to KP; 'I do' or 'I will'
Marry you, that is!
It couldn't have been any other day
Cos it's a real horror story.
She hid the water from my whisky
I had it neat, and got tipsy
(Bit of rhyming there!)
And uttered the fateful words
Only two of 'em, but terrible words to say to her
'I do' or 'I will'. LOL.

The preparation has all been done.
The children have their masks on.
The night outside is looking good.
Let them out to terrify the neighborhood.

Shadows creep on Halloween night,
Ghosts and ghouls give such a fright.
Pumpkins grin with eerie glow,
Boo! The scares begin to show

Ghosts and goblins, spectral crew, deck the yards in eerie glee, Pumpkins grin, webs shimmer too-Halloween's their tapestry.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the fusion, have a great weekend

My late parents' photos of my oldest brothers and I saw us babies dressed like adults, which in a sense is sufficiently frightening... and rather too cute.

      • Poetic Licence

That sounds like a scene from a movie, babies dressed as adults, certainly frightening not so sure on the cuteness!!!

sorry am passing the invite this time, as have too many guests and functions - this being the festive season here
but i do agree that we protect our kids all year, and let them roam the neighbourhood in Halloween, so one has to just take care that it is a safe locality [ours is a gated society, so it's safer]
wishing everyone on this site Happy Halloween

Those decorations are going up weeks in advance,
Evil and electronic, the Devil can keep his final dance.
The heaviness of Halloween knowing that this stuffs real,
Tricking and treating for hours after an evening meal.
Nonbelievers lie in bed loving all of their dark and twisted demons,
Can't find one drop of righteousness amongst a gang of heathens.
Ritual sacrifices throughout the decades are written off as conspiracy,
History is his story, built lies and taken me a while to see that stuff clearly.
