In my life I was raised on respect,
Respect hard work and common sense.
I was taught to respect all,
And most of all
To respect my elders.
Through my life I gave them respect,
But now it happens so few times,
As at my time of life
Finding people older than me
Has become rather difficult.

- Comment from author about the poem: At my age respecting elders is becoming hard to do. The song on the video is worth listening to to the end.

Erm, yes it would be difficult for us two to find other older than ourselves, as we were at 1066, etc, and even living among the dinosaurs. lol.
Very true Orchi. LOL
I am with you Andy and I always wonder why the clerk at the store that is half my age calls me young man. A fun read Andy
Thank you soren, I call everyone 'young man'.
Andy
You are most welcome
Well Andy as I looked down the listing, I thought 'oh hello there's Goldfinch having yet another moan about not respecting him 'cos he's of, well mature years'. But here you introduced me to the Corries, whom to my eternal shame I was not aware of - this probably because I focused on Glasgow and not Edinburgh for my Scottish entertainment. Many thanks.
Thank you Dave. The Corries are a wonderful group, there music is very good and I listen to it frequently.
Andy
You have good taste (provided it ain't the whisky), Andy.
This is a thoughtful and gently humorous reflection on aging and the values we grow up with. It nicely highlights the irony of getting older while holding on to lifelong respect for elders. Very Nicely written 👍
Thank you Salvia, much appreciated.
Andy
I doubt that you are my elder lol but I do respect you for your take on respect.
Thank you Gwen, respect is always within me.
