Tune: Quam Dilecta
('We love the place, O Lord')
Jeremiah 14 v. 19-22 parts
*********
Have you, Lord, rejected
Us, who you accepted?
Why be there no healing?
Why there of peace nothing?
'Tis because of our sin
Come cleanse us from within
We acknowledge that we
Have turned from you freely
Do not abhor us, for
Your name's sake act for sure
Remember covenant
That you to us have sent
Are there any other
'Midst vain gods that do stir
To give rain? No, but you
Be our Lord God, e'er true

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 6.6.6.6. It sounds a gloomy theme, but the cause is in verse 2, Jeremiah an Old Testament prophet says. Rain is one example of what false gods cannot provide (verse 4). Aiming to write more hymn-poem-like material, but I dry up at times.

A good write from the old testament going back to the good old times. Good to see you back in the swing again Orchi
Thank you SB.
Most welcome Orchi
Nice write Orchi! Praying that Popeye will finally not make it to anymore of your poem comment threads. Sadly, too late Ah-gah-gah-glug-gah-gah! 🤣
Thank you N. We knows all about Popeye's 'Latin' glugging! Whatever are we talking about here? Don't answer that! lol.
LOL! Glug Latin...sounds worse than Pig Latin methinks! Why? Don't answer that!
I never knew that Popeye knew Latin. lol.
This is a sincere and moving prayer, beautiful in its simplicity and depth of faith. Very nicely written 👍
Thank you S.
Good one Orch.
