The monster in my stomach

Ajax (he/xe)

There is a monster inside of me

It claws its way up my throat,

Scratching, growling

It is forceful and unyielding

It knaws away at me,

Eating me inside out

It wants me to feed it.

To allow myself to become a fat little piggy

All plumped up, filled with rolls of fat and covered in sweat,

Salted to taste.

It wants to eat me,

To lick the meat of my bones

Crawl its way into the cavity where my brain once was

And make me give in to the sin that is gluttony.

I will not let the monster win.

I will keep myself small, and sacred, and clean

Maybe if I get small enough,

The monster will leave me alone.

I will have gotten too small to be a worthy meal,

And it will find someone bigger to pick on next.

Some say the monster will leave us alone when there is no longer any one at home!

Diminishing oneself is not always the answer, growing bigger might defeat it as well. A great metaphor in this poem. Well done a bone to gnaw on.
