Comforter Consolings

orchidee

Tune: Franconia

('Blest are the pure in heart')

John 14 v.14-17

***********

Jesus said, If you do

Love me, sincere and true

Keep my commandments, what I say

I be the Life, Truth, Way

And I will pray unto

The Father, and He to

You shall give another to stay

With you, even alway

Another Comforter*

To sister and brother

The Holy spirit, so shall He

You Helper ever be

He be the Paraclete**

Though the world not Him greet

Nor know Him, but for you He shall

With [you], and in you, e'er dwell

----

* Comforter can include the meanings of 'solace' and 'strengthen'.

** Paraclete - one called alongside to help.
