Wishing you all a fantastic Halloween, Guy Fawkes,
Christmas and Happy New Year..
Fireworks bring the arsonist out of us childish blokes.
Watching hard earned money just going up in smoke.
Do we really think we can fly that rocket to the moon.
What are we thinking when the depth charge just goes boom.
Watching the Catherine wheel send sparks into the trees.
We want an exploding colourful sky as far as we can see.
As all our children hold the sparklers looking so happy.
It's getting busy at the local General Hospital A and E.
So, what is it that brings the arsonist out of all of us.
What is it that is magical about Guy Fawkes Night,
That makes us all go crazy and go to all that fuss
We want but an excuse to party with great zeal,
The thought of killing off our rulers what'd appeal
In every century,'cept with whom dare to fear God.
Were He not on the throne, they'd perish likeas cod.
As for the sparklers children run about with in great joy,
I cannot but recall I was too scared of that fine toy.
If we were only thinking, would we love these toys whose
Essence but reminds us of the weapons we oft use
To bring to ruins all that we held ere dear,
The same which puts our lives in very fear?
Let's celebrate Guy Fawkes Day in good style
If only to remember Whom preserves us all the while.
'Twas the fifth of November do you remember
Back in sixteen o five now not a man alive
There was a man known by the name of Guy Fawkes
A Catholic in England against Protestants balks
Wanting to assassinate King James the first
A plot to blow up the house of lords vowed to do his worst
The whole plot by an anonymous letter was foiled
Caught and tortured he confessed but their plans he spoiled
Sentenced to be drawn, quartered and hung, broke his neck when he sprung
In velvet night, the stars ignite,
A fleeting blaze, a burst of light.
They climb, they soar, with fiery grace,
Painting dreams across the sky’s vast face.
A spark ascends, then blooms in flight,
Chrysanthemums of gold and white.
Crimson flares and sapphire streams,
Explode in moments, fade like dreams.
The crowd below, with upturned eyes,
Gasps as colors kiss the skies.
Each boom a pulse, each crack a cheer,
A fleeting spell that draws us near.
Ephemeral, yet bold they stand,
Crafted by some unseen hand.
For one brief breath, they own the dark,
A fleeting, fearless, fiery spark.
Then silence falls, the embers drift,
The night reclaims its starry gift.
But in our hearts, their echoes play,
Fireworks, forever, light our way.
Quite often 'tis courting hell
To rise up to the powers that be,
For their power be well entrench'd.
The ultimate rulers always fight back.
Only nuclear poetry can achieve success...

Harry just could not stop being annoying.
He was stopping all the children from enjoying.
All together they tied Harry to a large stick.
The fuse attached firmly Mary gladly lit.
As Harry very quickly was launched into the sky.
The smiling children waved annoying Harry, goodbye.

Thank you for all your wonderful contributions, have a great weekend
Your conclusion has me in stitches.
Definitely a great topic, though it took me a while to get used to fireworks again.
What! I missed the cut-off again!? It has to be the time zones. It truly has to be!
...here's my little ditty, anyway (and thanks muchly dear Tobani for the invite:
So, gather the sparks, the tales, the cries,
From treason’s plot to children’s eyes.
A night of folly, fear, and flame,
Each age retells it, much the same.
Between the laughter and the fright,
We crown the dark with borrowed light.
Remember well what fire can cost,
And what is found when power's lost.
Pity this gorgeous stanza wasn't in there. I love it. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you kindly @Cheeky Missy
We are missing your poems around this neck of the woods 🙏🏻🕊️
I was never here all the time, as the record across over a decade proves, whence, having forced you all to endure me for a year, I'm gone from these parts until who knows when.
sorry, my bad.. i too keep missing it now and again, as was traveling, and also too many weddings and functions going on...
That's a wonderful write, it probably is the time differences that people may miss out. I am not publishing anymore on this site,so maybe you can set one off to get them involved, take care
Oh, and that is sad, Tobani. Have you moved to another site?
yes, all the contributions are wonderful, and i agree that Arqios -you may be the last to contribute, but its not the least ...well written - as are all the other verses..
so tobani, which site are you now active on, if one may ask ///
OOh wow this one was lovely, and here I came late but I wish to see fireworks ( I have never seen any)
I too missed this wonderful piece.
The last stanza is so creepy.
