Swine Script
You call it a bond,
I call it a tether—
a hog‑tie dressed up as poetry.
The lash sings, the rope bites,
and suddenly loyalty
looks a lot like livestock.
In the pigpen of verse
you root with your snout:
penning like a pig,
penned like a pig,
inking the sty
with squeals and scratchings.
Swine, hog, porker, boar—
your lexicon a butcher’s bill,
each word a cleaver,
each stanza a sausage casing.
And still, you parade it as art,
this muck‑splattered manuscript,
garlanding the sow with pearls
only to watch her roll them in dung.
The bond, you say, is sacred.
I say it’s bacon waiting for the pan.

Wow!!! The butcher's knife plunges deep in this poetic metaphor. A poetic cut that requires self examination to see if the ham is not one's own. I see reflections in the window where it is hung and have to ask if they are a mirage or meat cut to the bone. So many scraps I reflect on and whether they should be made sausage or thrown to the dogs. In fine I see why Jews and Muslims do not eat pork but then Hindus do not eat beef. A powerful poem that leaves one thinking fish and foul are the way to go. A fave my friend
Thanks for that wonderful review, Soren! It's scary to post stuff like this as it doesn't appear to be everyone's cup of tea. 🕊️🙏
You are most welcome Cryptic that is what to me makes the difference between a popular poet and a great poet. To have the courage to put out there what is truly inside defines the commitment to the art not the reader. Well done my friend
Being committed to being compelled. What a compunction 🙏🏻🕊️
My friend, this one cracks like a whip…the grit, the bite, the full-on self-skewer. You lean into the grotesque until it turns brutally honest. Loved the rawness of this. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Carpet burn, more like 🤣
LOL! 😝
Made me Squeal . A bit Rash I thought. A Poem that Hogs the Limelight etc etc.
A good Write.
And to think this loosely themed series was based on “this little piggy…” 🙏🏻🕊️
They like their rolling in the mud, them piggies!
That they do!
There's a Biblical proverb that says the same. It's linked with another proverb which I can't tell you if you're about to eat! lol.
Throwing pearls or eating hurls?
Something related to hurls, it is. Oops!
Wood woof 🐶
Ahh so you know the rest of the proverb?! Something relating to dogs.
Smoked back bacon please Rik with fried eggs, pork sausage, fried bread ad black pudding please.
