Tune: Doncaster
('Put thou thy trust in God')
1 John 2 v.1-2
**********
An Advocate* to plead
Christ Jesus, all I need
He pleads before the Father's throne
He atones, He alone
John to 'little children' (believers)
Does say unto them then
That if anyone sin, we have
An Advocate who saves
He Christ Jesus, He be
Our intercessor, see
He the righteous one, for us pleads
In His good way us leads
Our propitiation
For our sins, e'en each one
The Father's response forgiving
To us, grace does us bring
Christ lenient and mild
To us sinners defiled
By taint of sin, yet we may be
Forgiven by Him free
Not for our sins alone
But for all does atone
He, e'en the sins of the whole world
Lamb of God's plan unfurled
-----
*The 'Advocate', Christ Jesus, can also be called the 'Paraclete',
as the Holy Spirit is called: 'one called alongside to help'.

 - Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 6.6.8.6. 'Propitiation' includes the qualities in verses 4 and 5, the idea of mildness, leniency, etc.

Orchi the world feels normal again when you write your hymns. It's like going to church as a kid, it wasn't the sermons or classes or even prayers but the regularity of the whole thing that made it Sunday. This is another good hymn giving a feel of another Sunday past. Well done my friend
Thank you SB. I admit I've not done much church-going since covid ban lifted. My non-going is not related to covid though. I've just not got back into things regularly.
