Encouraging Exhortation

Tune: St Hugh

('Lord, teach us how to pray aright')

2 Chronicles 15 v.1-7 parts

**********

The Spirit of God came upon

Azariah (a prophet), he one

Who spoke to King Asa of old

A message he him told

Said, Hear me Asa, Judah all

Unto you be this call

The Lord is with you while you be

With Him, so shall you see

And if you seek Him, He will be

Then found of you freely

But if you forsake Him He will

Forsake you, this true still

Now Israel for a long time

They had no word or sign

Had been without the true God for

None did teach them His law

But when they in their troubles turned

To Him they of Him learned

And when they sought Him He was found

Of them, firm was their ground

Be strong therefore, let not hands be

Weak, act courageously

For your work shall be rewarded

Shall be, prophecy [is] said

Some of these old testament ones are head scratchers for me since I must have been distracted when I read them and dozing during Sunday School class and don't remember them well. I guess a hymn or two would keep the memory fresh. Good one Orchi

Thank you SB. Yes, some stores are 'hidden' in some of the less well-known books of the Bible - a bit like hidden gems maybe?! Hope my notes help to explain things.

You are welcome and thanks for shaking the dust off the old pages.

It might be too, that we could be put off by 1 Chronicles, which is largely list of names - but important to the people of those days. Then 2 Chronicles brings in more history and stories.

          Beautiful.

Orchi, this flows like a sung prayer…faithful, rooted, anchored in the text. You caught the courage in the call and the comfort in the promise. A lovely piece…

Oh no…he found his way in again. What could he be doing now? Don’t answer that! 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

              Thank you T.
As for someone else who crept in - nope, can't possibly answer that! lol.

For you work shall be rewarded. Amen. Beautiful poem

Thank you M. One said to me about something (not poetry): 'You'll be rewarded in the next world if not in this one'.

                    Very true

He also said something about the true meaning of a UK medal, the OBE. He called it, not Order of the British Empire, but 'other B*****'s Efforts'. Oooh!!
