i wanted my hands to be
pretty—painted—
ten black holes

phallic—
attached to
two breasts?
weird, i know.
are testicles not so?
ten black holes—
ten reminders
remain—
permanent—
your disdain toward me—
my being pretty—
ugliness

Well said, my friend. Your poem explores the contrast between beauty and ugliness, self-perception, and societal judgment. The poet expresses a longing for beauty through imagery related to art (painted fingers) while also confronting feelings of disdain and shame. The poem addresses self-identity, the pressures of appearance, and the emotional scars caused by societal expectations.
My friend, truly…thank you. You understood the heart of this one...the push and pull between wanting to feel beautiful and carrying someone else’s disdain. You named the wound and in doing so, you helped heal a little quicker. That means a lot. I always appreciate your time, presence, support, and analysis. You rock, dear Friendship! 🩶💔🫥🙏
Darkness rules and in this poem it comes off in spots and holes. Well done Tristan
Thank you, Soren! Glad it delivered, my friend! Your time and thoughts are always welcome and most appreciated! 🩶💔🫥🙏
You are most welcome my friend
Such creatures are we that often judge or reject another at face value, never knowing what lies within. As long as those who make the products, they claim will make us beautiful, set the standarad for beauty, we will continue to fall prey to its allure. This poem graphically captures the feelings of negative self image in the picture, the presentation, the emotion. Outstanding write!
Indeed. You so right about that, Bella. Thank you…you for reading this with real attention and, as always, for your insights. Very much appreciated and I hope you and your family had a Happy Thanksgiving 🩶💔🫥🙏
Thank you my friend, we are having our Thanksgiving a day late, but it will be great. Hope all is well with you, take care!
You are most welcome! I hope it was a fantastic feast and, more importantly, filled with warmth, love and joy! ❤️
There's only one - or those in the 'And Company' group - that haunt us! We knows them - Ol' Tom & Co!
We sure do! What a soggy bunch, no? Oh...salty too! 🤣
Swoon! lol.
LOL!
Some dark imagery and vibes. 🌹
